Silver MV Agusta model

A unique 1973 - 1974 MV Agusta model

Simon Coldicott Esq trained at Sir John Case College in East London between 1976-1980. He now works in Chelsea designing and creating jewellery, and gold and silver fabrications of all types. His work is known to many celebrities and admired by his peers. In the 2014 Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council Awards, he won two major awards:

Jacques Cartier Memorial Award (The Premier Craft Award)
This is given at the discretion of the council for exceptional and outstanding craftsmanship. It is only awarded when, in the Council's judgement, an entry achieves a standard to justify the honour.

In the Major Awards category, Simon also won The Senior Award
This award is given at the discretion of the Council for a piece or range of work by a Senior that is judged to have achieved the highest standards of craftsmanship and/or design. This is applicable to any of the craft and design sections that has been given a top award in the competition as a senior and the criteria is different to that of the Cartier and Goldsmith's Company Awards.

This one-eighth scale model (approx 10 inches long) is an accurate 1973-4 MV Agusta World Championship winning machine as ridden by Phil Read MBE.

It was constructed from works drawings the engine detail he has achieved has to be seen to be believed. Made from pure silver with gold highlights, even the tyres are silver, suitably darkened by his own process. The tread of his tyre is accurate to type . The chain has individual links, the suspension moves and the wheels rotate. All told, over 550 hours of painstaking labour went into the model's construction, necessitated by miniaturisation and attention to minute detail. The whole creation stands on a hardwood plinth. The fairing, true to the original, is detachable from the motorcycle. The model has been hallmarked in London. It comes complete with a rectangular clear plexiglass cover.
